Son, dessin, vidéo, peinture… le très éclectique musicien américain Rob Mazurek travaille sur tout, sans revendiquer un style ou un instrument de prédilection. Jamais prévisible et toujours à la recherche de ce que la musique pourrait devenir. Compositeur parmi les plus influents de sa génération, il développe sa vision créative à Chicago avant de s’installer à Marfa au Texas où il envisage une œuvre totale, qui mêle installation électro-acoustique, peinture, sculpture, vidéo. À la tête de multiples formations, qui vont du duo au grand ensemble, Rob Mazurek participe également au mouvement post-rock chicagoan (avec le groupe Tortoise notamment). En 30 ans, il a écrit plus de 400 compositions et son travail a un impact immense sur la musique créative d’aujourd’hui. Le voir et l’entendre (gratuitement !) au pied des murs d’escalade du CMC est un évènement, un moment unique !

One of the most influential composers of his generation, he developed his creative vision in Chicago before moving to Marfa, Texas, where he envisioned a total work that blends electro-acoustic installation, painting, sculpture, and video. Rob Mazurek has led multiple groups, from duos to large ensembles, and has also participated in the Chicago post-rock movement (notably with the group Tortoise). Over the past 30 years, he has written more than 400 compositions and his work has had an immense impact on today’s creative music.
