Saló Sonor is a performance set of invented instruments designed and built by Eli Gras, under the of “home and leisure”, in which she uses recycled materials, visuals and lightworks. This performance is a solo concert (Eli Gras) with recently added video materials and using only an invented machines set, + Mar Morey (cams control, photography). They together carry out a close-to-the-public show. Due to their contagious complicity, they create a warm and mysterious atmosphere on stage, enabling the audience to participate and discover some unique sounds and ambients and an unusual concert experience. Champs des Possibles” (Fr), the basic is an altered high case “ex-piano”, used as a prepared one, that now becomes a very special harp, also adding some extras that makes it become an installation-concert. The piano is not a delicate instruments and audience enjoy playing with it. The performance can be solo or along with collaborators (music duet) thus becoming an even richer performance. Review (Experimentaclub concert in Madrid, 2.004) “On May 1st ELI GRAS, a young woman from Barcelona (yes, a WOMAN. What a pleasure to find a woman playing in this league, more so when she’s playing with such mastery), who offered us 45 minutes of such creativity that the entire audience fell at her feet in admiration. With a sort of disorganized ensemble made of pedal effects, toys, kitchen stuff, cell phones and other kinds of junk, she gave us a session of history making free improvisation. She travelled all paths, from the most chaotic bruitism to the most childish and dadaist passages, psychodelia etc, all enhanced by her good humo ur and a proximity to the audience that completely hypnotized everybody. I recorded almost the whole concert and you can hear it here (where, throughout the concert, you can hear the laughs ELI provoked in us with her human, childish and ironic touch. Laughs driven with perfection, using certain elements that, in her hands, seemed to have a magical life). It was fascinating to see the way she developed the show and how her surrealistic arsenal - of invented instruments, toys for children, CD players, radios etc - became one of the most complete, compact and funny landscapes of this kind of art that I have ever enjoyed”.
