Three acts complete the Gent Jazz Festival programme at the Bijloke site: Perfume Genius, BeraadGeslagen and Lyenn
The festival previously announced that, among others, Max Richter, John Cale, Kamasi Washington, Pat Metheny & Ron Carter, John Scofield/Brad Mehldau/Mark Guiliana, St Germain, Balthazar, dEUS: Soft Electric, Ibrahim Maalouf, Jill Scott, Lianne La Havas and Ibeyi will be filling the summer air with jazz.
Today, Gent Jazz Festival added the last three names to its summer line-up. The most outstanding of these is Perfume Genius. dEUS: Soft Electric, Eefje de Visser and The Germans are just some of the other acts planned for Saturday, 16 July. Perfume Genius’s music skilfully swerves back and forth between synthpop and the delicate ballads that we’re used to hearing from the likes of James Blake and Antony & the Johnsons. BeraadGeslagen’s experimental sound factory will also be stopping by on 16 July. Keyboardist Fulco Ottervanger and drummer Lander Gyselinck perform music that refuses to be pigeonholed, sweeping from hip-hop to funk to trance and back again. They’ll be gracing the Garden Stage three times throughout the day, giving you plenty of time to completely explore their universe.
Last but certainly not least, Lyenn has been added to the line-up for Saturday, 9 July. Lyenn is the solo project by Frederic Lyenn Jacques, who is also the bass player for bands like Dans Dans and Mark Lanegan, in which he also sings. His voice serves as the leitmotif, worming its way - sometimes angelically, sometimes diabolically - through the melancholy melodies. Lyenn will be playing three sets on the Garden Stage.
