Today would have been the anniversary of Iannis Xenakis. Exactly one century ago, Iannis was born in Romania on 29-5-1922 and died in Paris on 4-2-2001.
Xenakis was a naturalized French composer, architect and engineer.
He was an architect and, as part of Le Corbusier's studio, he collaborated in the creation of the Philips Pavilion at the 1958 Brussels World Fair. He was one of the first Europeans to use a computer to compose music and created stochastic music.
For the occasion, we are offering you two programmes to illustrate his work.
In the second part :
Arne Deforce, cellist and researcher
Reinhold Friedl, artistic director of Zeitkratser, talks about his contribution to the LP Electroacoustic Works box set recently published by Karlrecords.
