Deep Purple have been active from 1968-1976 and then from 1984 to the present day. They were born out of the psychedelic end of the 1960s, before moving into mainstream 1970s hard rock and later on embracing more funky and blues style. Their popularity was so high that they reformed with their classic line-up Mark II lineup in 1984 and are still playing to this day albeit with changed personnel. The radio-show focuses in particular on the Mark II phase from 1969-1973 with a sprinkling of songs from before and afterwards.
