Orchestre Tout Puissant Marcel Duchamp + Echo Beatty
L'Orchestre Tout Puissant Marcel Duchamp is project that originally started as a project at the Geneva based venue Cave12. Vincent Bertholet was given a carte blanche and composed an orchestra which includes guitars, marimbas, trombone, violin, double bass, drums and chants. The group waves a nice, smooth and complex net of poppy polyrhitmic songs. From free-jazz to pop to progressive rock, always with an optimistic undertone. Their last album was produced by a certain John Parish. He's probably stuck with their songs in his head for the rest of his days.
Echo Beatty is a duo of rambling souls. Armed with an old organ, a vibraphonette, a set of hair combs, guitars, metal springs, a loop station and a drum, they roam the sonic steppes searching for rapture. She sings her soul out and he enfolds her in atmospheric sound tapestry. Echo Beatty evokes disturbing beauty that can sound vast and forbidding as well as soft and vulnerable at the same moment.
